Values

TWISTED AXLES VALUES

As representatives of a Christian school, we describe Gracious Professionalism through the lens of our Christian worldview. We have five principles that guide our team.

Excellence

Doing everything to the highest standard our abilities will allow.

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

Learning

Always gaining new knowledge, skills, and abilities from others.

Proverbs 1:5 “Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.”

Team

Depending on each other to do more than we can do alone.

1 Corinthians 12:20 “There are many parts, but one body.”

Respect

Treating others the way we want to be treated.

Matthew 7:12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them.”

Fun

Finding joy in all we do.

Ecclesiastes 3:13 “Every person should eat, drink, and enjoy the benefits of everything that he undertakes, since it is a gift from God.”

FIRST® VALUES

Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST. It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.

With Gracious Professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process. They avoid treating anyone like losers. No chest thumping tough talk, but no sticky-sweet platitudes either. Knowledge, competition, and empathy are comfortably blended.

In the long run, Gracious Professionalism is part of pursuing a meaningful life. One can add to society and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing one has acted with integrity and sensitivity.
